So I just took Jessica to The Boot for the first time. Its a treasure we have here, I know, and I feel it. When friends come down, we will try to set them up with a good experience there, but more then that OUR lives will be enriched by having it so close. Two blocks away, its within easy walking distance. We pay a $5 cover and enter an up-scale Italian restaurant turned music venue. I dont know how it would work except that they book great bands. Case-in-point : The Championship. This band plays like Bruce Springsteen at his best (see the album Nebraska). We watched this band tonight and just were absolutely taken with them. We ended up buying a CD and then chatting up the band. We talked about Music, Politics, Tattoos. Jessica, slightly awsome and not letting things such as fact and ability get in the way, even offered to give the band a place to crash if they had failed to book a hotel. HA!
But seriously, we had a great time and realized midway through the night that this was infact something we needed. Its been difficult these days; Jessica kicking off her career, me trying to keep optimistic about finding a job, and both of us strapped for cash. We havent had much energy or motivation to really get out there and have some frivolous fun. So, my thanks to The Championship, and The Boot for the wonderful night. And let that sate our appetite just a bit longer as we think of a time when we can enjoy these things a bit more freely and in the company of more friends, and less strangers.
Feeling restless.
